" Sorry I am so late to respond to your question. As I understand it the Work Permit is valid per Employer. For example, if I am hired by a Company, it is their responsibility to get all the necessary paperwork, work permit, Visa, etc. This is what I went through in Belgium; I was brought over as an XPAT and when my assignment was over I was to go back to the US. I applied for and received another job for another company. Since I already had my Visa and work permit for Belgium, I could ride out the remainder of the year, then when it was time to renew, they put the necessary paperwork together and filed for an extension of the work permit. The Visa for more than 3 months is normally applied for only once, then the residency and work permits are an extension to the Visa.
