Thinking of doing this next year. I would find a group headed that way and beyond to travel with. Would I find any place to rent to park it that would have water, power and sewer or would I have to buy some dirt to park on?

Are you intending to stay in Belize ? If so Customs will dream up a huge value for you RV and charge you 60% !!! Plus loads of paperwork, Travelling thro Mexico to Belize can be risky

There was a guy a few months ago going to do the same thing, he couldnt find a customs agent who could give him a straight answer, as the customs officers will make up their own mind what its worth and charge you 50 to 60 % . You could easily pay $25K usd . Its a huge hassle

Ok. Kill the thought of bringing motorhome down. Not paying for motorhome twice. I can sell up here for what I'm in it.
Traveling thru Mexico didn't bother me, if traveling with a group or had a native guide along. But not feasible anymore.
********Anyone know the best real estate person for outskirts of town of Corozal. Guess if I'm coming down there I need a stick & brick place to live.

I disagree. From all our experiences of shipping from USA to here (bearing in mind we are from the UK so know nothing about US procedures etc) we have found Customs in Belize to be very fair and straightforward to deal with. There are duties to be paid and if you speak to Customs about what the charges are they have a "bible" which they refer to and can tell you what they will be. We have bought a new generator, huge propane fridge and computers etc over the years, all with no problem at all. We used Sterling Freight in Cayo to bring the shipments down who were also excellent at keeping us informed and getting the shipment to us timely.

Thank you Happymoon. I appreciate your positive response.
I would only ask, do you have any experience or knowledge (first or second hand) of bringing a motorhome or motor vehicle into Belize from another country, especially from USA.
Thanks new friend, Bry

Happy moon , if you read back a few months, there was a guy who wanted to drive a big RV and an excavator, , he couldnt find a customs agent who would give him a price . Ive loads of friends whove bought stuff down like you, but were talking about driving an American RV thats not in their bible , and you wont know till you end up on their door step, but you will pay 50 to 60 % on a vehicle. Your talking about a totally different set of circumstances and just clouding the issue, no help at all

The post I previously thought I posted was this was not my 1st request/response to not bring motorhome to Belize due to custom tax.
So not going to pay for mohome twice. Can afford to sell for value in USA.
Need now info on a Real Estate Agent for the outskirts of the town of Corozal, guess going to need sticks & bricks to live there.
I was there in late 70's in USA Navy. Always said that is where I want to go to retire. Well I retired 2 months ago.

Bry. I wasnt being negative , just warning you. Bringing a container of known goods thro a reputable shipping Co.is a very different aspect. Belize has changed considerably since the 70's and im ex British army with many British and American ex servicemen friends on AC. many came back because they married Belizeans. If you havent been back, worth a recce visit to see what going on

Yes, I live in Corozal. Did not move here in a motor home and while there are some areas you could park one, I don't think this area is conducive for that large of a vehicle. The roads are narrow and between the bicycles and people walking, they are hard to negotiate most of the time. If you want to live off the grid you could go out to Cerros Sands where there is plenty of room for a motor home. Beluze Lenny knows all about that area. I agree with everyone that it may cost you a fortune but you would need to check with customs here in Corozal. I did see a large motor home coming through the border the other day. I wasn't in a position to ask the gentleman driving the cost, but I am sure you can find out. Wechaealwaysfound the people att he border/customs to be very helpful. For the most part, everything we have brought into the country has been reasonable but we have not brought in a vehicle (bought one here).
Hope this helps. We love living in Corozal and there are a lot of places for rent and for sale but you just don't see motor homes parked around. I guess if you bought a lot you could put whatever you want on it.
