Can you only purchase a 1 way airline ticket to Cancun, and then getting on the overnight bus to Belize City. One source said that I would need to purchase a round trip airline ticket even thought I am doing a permanent relocation to Belize. Thanks

It is often demanded by Airlines that you buy round trip but it is not enforced by any immigration border or entry point in Belize so just stick to your guns and welcome to Belize if u need more info email me at kenubelizeit@yahoo.com

We got one-way tickets from Manchester, England to Cancun, we had NO problem getting to Belize.

Rules are (into any country in the world you are not a citizen of)round trip or 1 way with prove on onward travel.
The Airlines need to check you have residency or citizenship or they have to return you for free if you are not allowed in the country.
"All U.S. citizens must have a U.S. passport valid beyond their planned departure date. No visas are required for citizens of the United States for tourist visits of up to 30 days, but they must have proof of their intent to depart Belize (such as onward or return air tickets) and proof of sufficient funds to maintain themselves in Belize."

Sounds like coming via Cancun and taking the bus would work with a one way airline ticket, assuming you had a return bus ticket to somewhere else or back to Cancun. One way's are sometimes, though not always, cheaper than round trip tickets for airlines.

We live in San Pedro why would we want a return bus ticket? We were never asked if we had a one way ticket and nobody checks. I was just saying you can get here one way. You have your passport stamped for a month then you go in and renew the stamp every month for 6 months. Then they may ask you for more information.
