I am planning to move to Belize and I am searching for an affordable apartment or condo. (500.00 us) per month. Is this a possibility or am I being naïve?

Last Oct [low season] in SI, I paid 500bz, for an unfurnished apt. Also initially I paid $25us/night at Betty Guerra's Casa Blanca Hotel, which was a great homey place to stay initially, right in the middle of town.

Utilities can double the cost on a cheap rental . And it depends how basic you want to be , in the low season it gets very hot and humid . Most cheap places have no aircon , but aircon can be horrendously expensive to run !!!

Depending on where you plan on going...mainland or Cayes. Ambergris is more expensive, could probably find something for 500, but would be basic.
Things are much cheaper on mainland . Obviously any beach area is more expensive, but we think worth it! San Ignacio area is nice if you want the Cayo district, also Corozal seems to be much cheaper and you could be near water if that's what you are looking for .

If you want an action packed area for a single guy Ambergris Caye is probably your cup of tea, but its not cheap there.

Like Bobbyveee said, it depends on where you plan to live. Here in Corozal rent runs anywhere from $250BZ to $1800BZ (or more). We pay $500BZ for a two bedroom, 1 bath single family house, furnished with AC and a private pool.

Hi; I am planning on living there long term. Rental would be minimum of 1 year. I would like to get something about 500.00/month near the beach or a town so I don't go stir crazy. Are there any good realtors to contact. The ones I have contacted on the internet keep sending me stuff for vacation travelers. I lived in Thailand for 11 years and I am looking for a change closer to my home in Canada Jim
