The few main roads aren't wonderful. but OK. The standard of driving is not good, I know I would prefer to be on 4 wheels. The other thing to remember is the salty ,corrosive air especially near the coast. Hot metal and salty air aren't a good mix, so you will need to do plenty of cleaning down and oily cloth wiping. And anything leather goes moldy really quickly. I believe there is a HD club somewhere in Belize.

The main highways in Mex . are good. No problems driving down, its the Belize roads that get bad.

I road Harleys for 40 yrs. Gave them up couple years ago. 10 yrs ago in Belize you never saw anything that resembled a dressed Harley. I remember years ago I asked around to see if anyone in Belize had a Harley and they only knew of one. I searched it out and it was a non-runner FLH rusting away in some motel storage area. Now I see a few around when I am in Belize, and I can't see any improvement in the roads.(except the new road into Hopkins) As you know big bikes and bad roads are not fun. You will spend a lot of time dodging pot holes and bottoming out over speed bumps. For me the only wise choice is some Japanese fat tired 250cc thing. Mexico has great roads. Belize not so much. I have been to Black Pearl Harley shop in Belize City and NOT what you are used to seeing. You actually have to enter their store thru an auto parts dealer or climb up the loading ramp. BUT I do have the shirt :-)

So, HRLee are you saying its not a good idea to bring this type of bike down to Belize . I would think it would get 'beaten to death' in a short time . As you say a cheaper more suitable lightweight bike would make more sense than ruining an HD.

beaten to death and all the small crevices with nice chrome and polish will be gone in a short time.. Soon it will have the allure of a farm tractor. Not to mention the wiring harness/switches/any bulb connection, etc will start to corrode. If you start out with a cheap "non Harley" the same will happen, but who cares???
