Hi Folks, We are hopefully moving to Belize at the end of this summer. My question is: is it better to buy property/business with a buyers agent or doing it yourself with a solicitor who can deal with property purchases. If this is the case can anyone recommend a good solicitor. Not a "High Flyer" please, just a good solid dependable solicitor.
many thanks
Shaun-O

Hi . You dont say where your buying. If your buying thro' a good , well known realtor they take care of everything, buying in Belize is a little different from USA. Dependent on where you are buying , people on the forum will advise who you need to use. Good luck

You just need to make sure you have a dependable reputable realtor. I am working with Jeff McGinnis in the Placencia/Riversdale area and he is awesome. Stand up guy who isn't looking to make a quick sale. He even took an entire day to show us around Placencia, knowing we most likely won't be buying at all. We will be renting. I would 100% recommend him. No matter what, just make sure you do your research before you choose someone.

Whatever you do, see titled land documents before laying down a penny. Margaret Nunez with Musa and Balderama in Belize city has flawlessly helped me out with two land purchases. As far as realtors go, Macarena Rose with Keller/Williams is a pretty good start. I have also dealth with her on a couple of ocassions. Either route is acceptable but see my first sentence. These folks will do this for you and hold all escrow etc . . . have fun!! Be smart!
