I have experience in wildlife rehab and want to volunteer... no pay. I was told that I would still need a work permit. I am retired so I don't need the money just would like to contribute...rethinking moving to Belize. Thanks

I'm interested in doing the same thing, although I don't think a work permit will be necessary, if it's purely volunteer. You might want to check out the Belize Wildlife & Referral Clinic. http://www.belizewildlifeclinic.org/

Work permits are required for non-paying volunteer posts. It is to ensure you are not taking a position that someone (Belizean) could do for pay. They are not difficult to get, but they are required.
