So Im 32, and i just received my VA disability rating, and I'm happy to say I'm guaranteed to have 1600 a month. Is that enough to survive in belize?

I would say you can do it but you will live a moderate life . there are places that you can rent for as low as 2- 400.00 / month, without air conditioning, budgeting will be essentialand alot of the north american standards would not apply. Can it be done , Yes Is it for you?

Living on a budget is possible if you cook your own food. Rent a room instead of a house get a bicycle and live my friend love your life welcome to Belize lastly stay away from the vices of alcohol

You can survive, but it will be tight....I guess it depends on how much your rent is, what kind of food you eat, if you have a vehicle, and how good of a money manager you are. It will also depend on if you like to run air conditioning......I think Corozal is one of the less expensive places to live. The Cayes have to import everything and they are catering to tourists, so, it is pricier to live out there......

I am another disabled Vet, (have about 10 years on you) and I plan to move to Belize.

My family and I just got back, would be glad to share my thoughts. If you are interested, send me a PM

Congrats on your rating.
I was medically retired last year in July after 13 years. I plan on moving to Belize in about 5 years. I am in college right now and want to finish and work for about 2 years and put that money aside for getting down there and buying some land and property after being there for a little renting a house. I have a wife and 5 kids so I need to plan ahead and plan carefully. I have never been there but it sounds just like what my family needs. To get away from the rat-race here. It would be so awesome to have a few Vets down there by the time I arrive

Yes, as long as you're not looking for luxury. Inland is less expensive than coast, in general. The San ignacio area is my recommendation. And thank you for your service and congrats on getting your disability. My son just got his approved, as well.
