So I'm sitting in the airport, about to fly to Belize. And contemplating whether to exchange US $ to Belizean $. Opinions please?

You don't need to.. The green back is taken just as readily as the Belizean currency....

If you use your ATM card in a local cash machine the cash will come out in Belize dollars. it is useful to have some local currency, not ALL small businesses will deal with it and keep smaller US$ demoninations, Large bills are more difficulty

In BelizeI have got exchange rates as high as 2.15 Belize to 1 dollar. It you use dollars at a store it is 2 BZ to 1 US. Shop around once you get here for the best exchange rates as it can vary every day.

Please expand on this. Why would someone give me BZD 2.15 for USD 1.00? Are people hoarding US dollars in expectation of a devaluation?
