Evening everyone,

My name is Deborah, I am a female hailing from South Africa. I am planning to relocate to belize, will becoming across alone. I am trying to find a quiet place in and around belize. Internet gives so many options its hard to pin point.
Obviously safety been paramount as I am alone but coming from Africa I am running from the severe crime we have here. Looking for a inexpensive rental, furnished and with aircon. TV if possible, It does not have to be fancy as I am used to primitive life style and third world living. Please any information you can help with and costs of rentals and food. Would I as a single person get by on 800 to 1000 US a month. Does one need a car or is a golf cart sufficient and the costs of either.

IT will depend on WHERE in Belize you live whethter you can live on $800 - $1,000USD per month. If you're on the mainland, it's cheaper but you will definitely need a car or at least access to one. Golf carts are used on the islands but the islands are also much more expensive than the mainland with rents alone running $1,000 + USD per month

Thanks for the reply,
I am looking in two main areas, San Ignacio or Corosal. I have decided to book into a vacation rental for two weeks or so until I can get to a definite decision on which area I want to settle.

I have been told that living in Belize with less than 1000 per month is doable but could be difficult. I am actually looking for a roommate when I get to Belize that way we could offset the cost together and have more options with regards areas to live in Belize.
