I am considering a move to Belize and would like to hire a expat guide to show me the various communities / areas where expats live. Does any one know of any one that offers this service. I would like to arrive the end of March for a few weeks. THANKS

I'm not sure that this service could be anything more than a favour as the tittle of Guide within Belize is a job description and needs Qualifications. Also only available to Belize citizens or some permenent residents.

Contact me directly Sunny. I can help and give you places to go / people to see.
The short version is that a "tour guide" is restricted to Belizeans but that is considered a tourist job and providing "tours", i.e.: a snorkel tour or a Mayan ruins your, but not what you are looking for. People get hung up oncevthe word "tour" is used in Belize as this is monitored by the BTB but there are options for you. And I can easily explain on the phone.

We had an hour + long telemeeting with "BradInBelize" yesterday and can wholeheartedly recommend you follow through on his offer!!!
We are considering a move to Caye Caulker byt the end of 2017, with a 12 day trip there in April to check it out. Brad was able to address ALL our questions and inquiries about life in/moving to Belize, living on the "cayes" and areas on the mainland to consider as options as well. His knowledge comes from firsthand experience living in Belize and is most helpful, genuine and on point with other information we had gathered through other sources.
Do yourself a HUGE favor....contact "BradInBelize", you won't be sorry!

Go to his posting on this thread and click on the "Send Private Message" link, then you can send him a private message (only he will see it) with your contact information. He will reply fairly quickly.

You can hire a driver and car or better yet, its so easy to rent or buy a car and see it all yourself.

A car can't give you advice and information about anything, I mean Anything, to do with moving to/living in Belize....But BradInBelize can, and will, and in a very friendly manner to boot!
This is not a paid endorsement :-D

You need to go around and see and talk to folks at places you stop. Too many will steer you to what they want to sell.

And do not use one real estate agent and this is coming from a US Licensed Broker living in Belize since 2002. Most do not work with other agents. REALTOR is used here as a term....but it is not the same.

Thanks LORRAINE & BRAD
Thanks for the kind words. Great talking to you both and it sounds like you're on the right track to be one of my new Belizean neighbors. Hoping we catch up when you're there - please stay in touch.

BelizeLenny is 100% correct. Do not deal with just one real estate agent here (which I am NOT A Realtor or affiliated with any realtor).
Belize Basics 101:
Rent first for 6+ months, find properties YOURSELF, then contact a realtor (or get SOLID referrals on the good ones - there are many realtors because they printed a business card that says "realtor" on it and that's about the extent of their own knowledge (np licensing or certification in Belize).
I have helped people to relocate and/or invest but don't "sell" anything. I do hate to see people make multi- thousand (sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars in mistakes) and have seen this done, so I try to give good solid advice and keep that from happening. I'm here to help if needed.
