We are in early stages of researching possible retirement outside USA. I have probably 5 more years till retirement will be possible. My wife and I would like to visit Belize this year and get a feel for the country. We would appreciate any suggestions on scheduling this trip to get a real flavor of the country. Tips on where to visit and how to hold costs down so we can make the visit as long as possible would really be helpful....Thanks

…we stayed at Serenity Sands outside Corozal. It is $110 a night for the guesthouse that has a kitchen. It is outside of town so you will want to rent a car. Todd

Hi ~ Congrats on your decision to relocate. I'm not sure what area of Belize you are considering moving to. My husband and I relocated to the town of Corozal from the U.S. I have a bit of an advantage my mother and grandparents were Belizeans so I know the country of Belize very well. Corozal is a sleepy seaside town very inexpensive to live safe and lots of friendly people. If you're looking for more excitement you may want to consider San Pedro or Placencia. I grew up in San Ignacio and there are lots of outdoor activities such as cave tubing, hiking swimming etc.. Belize has an area for just about anyone. Each town/village in Belize is very unique with their own individual charm.Once again it all depends on what your family needs require. Take a look at my Belize blog belizerichlife.com. You will find tons of information on Belize. If I can be of assistance please feel free to let me know. I wish you Peace from Belize! ??
