Freight company coming today to take my stuff to port of Houston to ship to Hopkins. Yea !!!

Could be quite a delay there with Hurricane Harvey's flooding. BOO !!!

It'll get there when it gets there...in the meantime God Bless Houston and the Texas Gulf coast.

Our shipping container comes on Monday headed to San Pedro...........can't wait to get out of this crazy country. Belize is what you make it, can't wait to get out of the rat race and enjoy and embrace the simple things in life. Peace out U.S.

A third world country is your solution? Good luck with that.

"A third world country is your solution? Good luck with that."

Yup, be damned anyone who sees the world on any different level than YOUR way.

Did it ever occur to you two that what Belize IS, is why we (a collective WE) want to experience it? Yeah, we may decide to leave within two years, like your majority do, but it will be because WE DECIDED to based on OUR experiences, not because we followed your guys tainted advice.

This is an emerging country, whether you want to believe it or not is your choice but when certain things begin to happen to make it progressively better(even if it's slow going) the signs are there. Life is what you make it.......to each their own. No threat of walls here like Mexico and Canada!

well kids...the reality meter goes to about 11 when your "bound for Belize" stuff disappears around the corner in a truck. HA

Not sure how my thread got hijacked and turned down that dully repetitive Belize love it/hate it path but on a scale of 1 to 10 compared to what's going on in the world, all that junk is a weak 1 on a 10 scale, people.

"Mind your business" <---a Texas expression.

See ya' soon, Hopkins....

just calling advice tainted doesnt mean a thing. Prove what I say is wrong.

Well you don't live in Beize so you only have tourist and internet searches for advice to offer. So when a poster is calling for personal experience of living in Belize your advice is tainted by that lack of experience and distance.
No one usually wants to prove your"advice" is wrong but it is not often useful and very often snarky.
Before you point out I do not live 100% of the time in Belize My son does and I am there multiple times a year in all seasons not just the tourist times. I have built homes on my property , I deal with all the Belize red tape personally and have a long hands on history with Belize from the 90"s to date.

Agree with you Terrific, i know we left in 2015, but very much intouch with friends there, we had our own beach bungalow on AC. We have absolutely no axe to grind, love the country and the locals, was inlolved with Belize since the late 60's, i just try my best to tell it as it is, if im not sure i dont post.

@katzgar,

Your constant whining about Belize is getting old. It is not like "breaking news!" Belize is not "first world" country. People who decide to consider Belize as a retirement place already know that. So, in the spirit of live and let live, and FFS, don't hijack the thread. If some guy from Belize took your girl friend, start a new thread to vent on the issue. Otherwise, let the people exchange constructive information.

given that something like 60% of expats return back north after a couple of years there is clearly a great deal expats dont know. I have yet to see anyone calling me out prove I am wrong on anything. Belize is a difficult place to live plain and simple.

sorry the truth is interfering with your house sales but people do have a right to know.

Katzgar

As i said a lot of your comments are ill informed and snarky. Your repeated comments that the only people not damning everything in Belize are those with something to sell are quite mean., and provably innacurate.
I have Built two homes one my son lives in, the other my retirement home we will build a 3rd when time and finances collude for my other son and his family. NONE of my 42 acres or buildings are for sale. I will be living full time in Belize in the not too distant future, As to the health care system I have been involved in Medical matters my whole adult life, so if I get a critical illness in Belize so be it, I will still be in the place I want to be.
I can not work out why you live on this forum so much. If posters are asking for life experience in Belize you have minor tourist knowledge at a personal level and if poster found this forum they can probably find other sites for research too.
Is your problem frustration because you cannot live in Belize you have to be able to offer expert advice on all things Belize that can be found on the web? I do not care if 99% of expats leave in a couple of years, everyone is entitled to chose to live where they want. I would actually appreciate just once you give the some validation to your 60% leave claim, you Quote is so often but without other information for the figure it is just an opinion.

katzgar

Actually I did quite a bit of research on the ground in Belize and your comments are just incorrect. You like to say I am wrong you like to say a lot about my comments but yet you still have not proven any of them wrong. Actually my original comment was 40% leave after a couple of years based on another expats comment. Another poster on here said it was probably closer to 60% and yes those are opinions. You should really stop misinterpreting what I say it's just doesn't do anybody any good.

If you will stop deciding on my motivations for living in Belize there can be no problem. Several times you have inferred I and others only have mercenary reasons for posting. I have refuted this before. I answer posters with things i have experience with in the main. I have never claimed your information is WRONG just that it is not always appropriate to the initial posters inquiry. if you are giving an opinion then fine but you have previously said your expat figure was fact.
There are so many reasons why anyone moves from one place to another, I have had 32 addresses since being an adult, Not always my choice but I can only say I moved because i disliked an area once. I do advise folks don't burn your boats in your homeland until you have a reasonable time to experience everyday hum drum life in Belize. its not diving and exploring ruins every day, its shopping, doing laundry and making the dinner, just like wherever you just left. With probably more extreme weather than you are used to.
I am not running away from things to live in Belize I am happily running forward to live in Belize. I have friends there I have my beautiful home and I am actually ok with the climate That is my only angle.

Actually I haven't said my expat figure was fact I said it was an estimate that came from another expat
