container to new location in Belize

I'm trying to imagine how on earth you get your belongings to Belize.

I get you can ship a container from say Huston Tx. (maybe not right now), but I'm trying to imagine How you would get that container or even just the Items, say a large kayak, large mattress table, etc. from Belize City to say Caye Caulker or even Sarteneja? I assume Belize City is the only Port large enough to ship a container to in North Belize?

Love to hear how any recent expats accomplished the move!
Thanks!

odds are you will return north in the next couple of years so have a place back north figured out and leave most stuff there. leather and wood rots and corrodes quickly in Belize.

are there moving truck companies/or rentals near the dock in BC? Just wondering how some of the new expats are doing it. It's not the US where you can get a u-hall truck and get local help to load/unload the thing. Or a moving company. At least I don't think so...that's why I'm asking.
On Caye Caulker I dont think there are even any cars allowed, So your crap gets there on a barge and dumped on the pier...then what? Are there companies or a company with a truck, that you can pay to get it to where ever you are renting?

Back in the day I drove from Ontario to Belize through Mexico. I pulled a trailer filled with essentials that are relatively unavailable or overpriced in Belize like a mattress, towels, lamps, electronics, dishes, flatware, a case of red wine and so on.. Actually anything not made in Guangzhou.
There were two kayaks on top. And a dog on the seat. He had entry email confirmation from BAHA. On arrival in Belize BAHA had no paper record of said dog so I paid 150$ dollars fine and the agent showed me real estate he had for sale. I got a customs broker who negotiated a "gift" to allow the goods to enter after 6 hours. Then there was the road to Sarteneja called New River road which was partially flooded. and had pot holes the size of Grand Canyon. You need to cross on the ferry. But there was a broken down school bus on top which I pulled off with chains on the SUV.
Was fine after that except my rain tank at the new home was empty as the locals were borrowing water.
Welcome to Belize!

container to Belize City

There are companies at the docks to transfer form your container to a barge - just ask / and customs brokers as well - if you get a good broker, they will help you or ask at Caribbean Queen.

Then Barge to Caulker or San Pedro (Caribbean Queen or Varella's)

To Sarteneja is a different story - sorry can't help you there, but you could probably hire a private boat (I know a guy from San Pedro that does this from BC to SP and could do it but have no idea what he would charge. PM if you want to contact him and I can forward his info.

We are currently mid-move to bring our things to AC. From BC, our items will be transferred to Caribbean Depot and they will bring our items to our property. At least that's the plan! We will see if it happens that smoothly and if the end cost will have me selling a kidney to pay duty and shipment fees or not. It's nerve wracking to say the least.

But right now I'm working/focused on getting our 3 cats into the country with only 2 plane passengers to carry them on board. (It looks like we may have to cargo ship them). I suppose I'll worry about the household shipment once I'm done worrying about the cats, I can only deal with so much stress at one time!
