I am planning a move for mid 2018 and am starting to put together my "checklist". I have an 11 year old daughter, does anyone have suggestions/advice in terms of the best place to live re: schooling/extra curricular activities?

A major criteria will be how does your childs school work transfer back to Canada. I would think the Canadian embassy in Belmopan would be best to answer that question. http://www.expat-quotes.com/guides/belize/education/international-schools-in-belize.htm

RENT, RENT, RENT first - DO NOT BUY A PROPOERTY for at least a year. Parts of Belize are very different from one another and you need to find where you "fit". Can you live in a small town that is isolated and has virtually none of the amenities that you are sued to, or do you need a larger town with some things to make a life more like North American life? Can you handle living on an island?

School will be a concern so you will most likely need to be in San Pedro or Placencia area (possibly San Ignacio) where there are some options for tutors and private schooling (although the island academy here stops after middle school grades so maybe your child is beyond that option already).
