Not to belittle Suzie but this is common in Belize. NEVER PAY FOR REAL ESTATE UNTILK YOU ARE STANDING IN IT!!! EVER!!! Never buy real estate on the internet - this is step number ONE.

I can't understand why anyone would ever think they can buy a piece of property without walking the property in person.

I sincerely hope you get what you paid for but you should be looking for an attorney at this point. Best of luck to you.

Hi Suzie,
I am from Canada and working with a few partners on a development in Corozal. It's a very large development with over 2000 single family detached and condos. We are building a large 300 boat Marina and a Resort. Will also be a gated community with a helicopter pad for emergencies. Were you able to recover any money from Remax there? Regardless, I'd like to chat with you to see what we can do to get you a home. Please feel free to email me at cheryl@therealtyden.com or call me at 1-800-336-8037. We are committed to ensuring everyone has a good experience with Belize so give me the opportunity to help. Have a great day!

Im surprised ReMax are involved, although everyone one who works for them is self employed, and if it is a scam they will be livid their name has been used. But those of us who have lived in Belize have heard these stories so many times and im still amazed people are willing to part with their hard earned cash in a foreign country buying sight unseen, would you buy a house in America site unseen NO of course not. Good luck getting your money or house, just hope its not a scam, if it is weve little chance of retrieving anything.

Saw the property, and model of the house, as well as the property with John Turley of Re Max, But when the time came for the starting of the home, fully paid for, many excuses, setbacks, no beginnings.

SUZIE,

Here's the problem (you wrote) - "But when the time came for the starting of the home, fully paid for, many excuses, setbacks, no beginnings."

I sincerely hope you get your money back , but please in the future, NEVER, EVER pay in full when building a property, anywhee in the world. Pay as the work progresses so you are never further ahead in the investment than what has been already delivered by the builder (always hold back enough money to finish the project on budget as promised and if the builder/developer won't do this, DON'T BUY from them, as they are not a legitimate business owner.

Never pay for anything up front that requires work, only for a finished product that can be signed over to your ownership, otherwise you will be in the situation 99% of the time.

Just some advice for the future and others.

Suzi, would you paid upfront in USA for a piece of land and a promise from someone you didnt know. They look for people like you in Belize, im not being rude but so many innocent Americans have been screwed on property deals there , mainly by expats and unless you can get Remax on your side kiss your money good bye or if your lucky wait yrs. Lambs to the slaughter, So many gullible people out there. I truly hope yopu get something out of this mess.

From experience any development that changes its name numerous times is a high risk investment.
