Belizian Realtors. Useless?

This is an open question regarding realtors in Belize. Specifically, Is it just me or do they just not bother answering people as a way of business? I can't count the times I've found an interesting property, used their online contact form and never even gotten a reply. At best it seems that after two emails, ( a first contact and then replying back asking another needed question) that's it, no more communication. Very frustrating. Surely this can't be the same with all realtors in Belize.

We used Eleanor Williams with Century 21 in Corozal Town.
It worked out fine; but definitely no one is in a rush.

Realtor - The term applies to those affiliated with NAR, 95% are not are should not be using this term. I am a Licensed Broker in the US and have been living in Belize since 2002, How can I help? What sites are you using? Viviun?

As with others in here, we also used Eleanor Williams from Century 21. And no, NO ONE is in a rush ... whether it's emails or phone messages, they get to them when they get to them.

I was able to contact her on her cell when really needed, so that helped ... but the funny thing is, we closed on our property last month and the title search for the previously seller hasn't been completed yet :-) ... SO, we wait for that to happen so that they can get their money, and we can get our title and lot plan.

But overall, having patience was vital ...

Before you do anything or contact any realtor, come down here and take a look around yourself and determine the area you would like to live, then RENT for at least a year before buying anything. Many people jump in, buy, then lose a ton of money returning back tot he US or Canada because Belize wasn't right for them.

Renting for a decent period of time will let you experience the Belizean culture and way of life to make sure it is a good fit and you will encounter and find many properties on your own or just speaking with locals and other expats while here.

Many people think "Go Slow" is a Caye Caulker motto or catch-phrase when actually it should be considered a huge piece of advice for ex-pats when coming to Belize.

Hi

I've looked at Viviun. I have also tried to deal with two in particular realtors. One I think maybe tried to pull something and another "Big name" in Placencia area who promised information only to never get back to me at all. me. Oh yes, and another in the San Ignacio area that never answers at all. Waiting almost a year now.
I'd be happy to see what you have and start a discussion

Ooops. I thought a reply ended up posting under who I was replying to rather than in the general discussion. The last two should have gone to bradinbelize and belizelenny. Sorry for any confusion

If you are interested in Corozal, I can help you. We also have land on a few islands if that is of your interest.

If you are not having luck in those areas contact another agent in that vicinity.

It surprises me an agent would not want a sale. Point2 homes would be my suggestion for looking at property as well as Viviun.

I agree but saying that there are quite a few professional realtors in Belize. I'm a realtor with Keller Williams Belize maria.smith@kellerwilliamsbelize.com (Maria Smith)! My suggestion is to be careful when purchasing real estate from private owners because a lot of people are selling real estate and they do not have the deeds/titles to the properties. When you have a REPUTABE Realtor working for you not only do we do a cmplety title search but we also make sure all taxes are up to date as well etc..... CAVEAT EMPTOR ~ BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Once again, you are only a Realtor if you have paid your dues to NAR. Many are using the term without abiding by NAR. I am sure this will come up at the Meeting on the 7th in Belize City.
