Living on Bermuda

Hi,

I am a Danish guy living in Malaysia. Just been offered a job on Bermuda - and honestly - I have no idea how it is to live on Bermuda.
How is nightlife? Eating out? The cost of living seem high - think the salery offered will be around $100.000 - is that to low to live a comfortable life on Bermuda?
How much is a reasonable two-bedroom condo - preferably with a balcony (and a seaview wouldn't hurt).

Hope I'll get answers to this one, cause I was asked for a fast response.

That is quite a good slary. Yes it is expensive to live here but it depends on what you are doinning with your free time.

A couple of web pages to check out for housing are: http://www.bermudarealty.com, http://www.regorealtors.bm and http://www.property-group.com.

Hope that helps

Hi Cindy,

Thanx for the info.

Found a site with a complete budget for family of two with only one person working and they came to $ 7.300 pr. month. That was with 2.500 pr. month to acommodation. Problem is I haven't been able to find acommodation for anything less than 3.500 online, so if the budget should be adjustet it is closer to 8.300 pr. month. Well - that is just about $100.000 pr. year - and that means that there is absolutely nothing left after paying basic living.

Auch. Well - I'll see if I can get the salery pushed up to a more reasonable level :)

Anyway - thanx for your response. Are you an expact yourself or a Bermudan (is that what it is called?). If you're an expat - can you tell me more how it is like?

I'm not Bermudian but am married to one. I have been living here for 4 years. I run a relocation company called First Contact. If you tell me what kind of accommodation you are looking for and price range I can make some enquires for you.

Dear Lars,
I noticed you are living in Malaysia and wondered if I could get some information from you. I am interested (with a couple of friends and their children) in moving to Malaysia, likely Sabah or Malacca, buying and running a diving business. We are also educated to Master's level and might do other work involving business or education during slow seasons. Since you have been living there I wondered what you could tell me about costs, housing, etc. Do you know anything about living in the areas I mentioned or do you know anyone who lives in those areas? Do you feel Malaysia is dangerous? Do they have restrictive gun laws like in Denmark? How long have you lived there and has it always been in KL? What is the medical care like and is it expensive? Is the food mostly organic? Do they use any alternative technology yet like solar power, etc.?
I am a Swedish-American living in Britain and would appreciate any imput you can give me. If you want to respond to my personal email address it is:
ridethatwave2002@hotmail.com
We would appreciate contact information with any Europeans over there who are light-hearted, fun, interested in local cultures, & experienced in the area of living over there. We range in age from 26-44 and my friends kids are 3-13. Thanks for any help you can give....we plan to move this summer, so a speedy reply is much appreciated.

Bee
P.S. What line of work are you in?
