My husband has recently been accepted for a job in Bermuda. I am a chef but am having difficulty finding jobs posted on the web for me. Is it difficult to get a letter from the government once I arrive to seek employment/... how do I go about it? should all this happen before we arrive?

ANY information would be greatly appreciated

You can apply for permission to seek employment for the department of immigration after you have been here a while. All jobs ahve to advertised locally, have you checked out the Royal Gazette paper online to see jobs going?

Hi, hope I am not too late, as the last reply was incorrect information. You may be added to your husbands work permit while his company is obtaining it, as a spouse with "Permission to seek employment". Once here without that permission, you are not allowed to seek employment. Your best bet in finding employment prior to arriving is through Bermuda yellow pages online under restaurants. There is also a restaurant section with menus on that site so you could review restaurants you would like to work at (either bermudayp.com or bermudayp.bm).
Also, you should check out the work permit information at gov.bm. The newspapers list job postings for refilling work permit positions. The positions must be advertised prior to work permit applications as Bermudians get first crack at any position - it is their country. Therefore, the postings in the paper are for positions that most probably have already been filled by an expat and run merely as a formality. Best of luck.
