Looking back on what you would have brought to the island, would anyone have shipped their plasma TV and home theater system?

Hi, we moved here in August and had the same conundrum...I would say no to the TV. The voltage is different and not everything is guaranteed to work even with transformers (e.g. my GHD straighteners worked but not my electronic toothbrush or hairdryer). You can buy lots of quality goods second hand on emoo - we bought an LG 42inch TV for $500 from someone leaving the island. We shipped 20 boxes of 'stuff' this included my favourite brand of bedding, Cruseut pans, pictures, clothes, kitchen stuff and a few personal items (including lots of my favourite, branded toiletries that I knew I would not be able to buy here). Good luck with the move!

I would say no, don't bring it. It depends a bit on where you come from but Bermuda has US voltage and so a UK TV will not run unless you have a transformer (would have to bring that as not easily found on island) and then you have the PAL/NTCS issues - DVD players need to match TV or else the picture rolls continuously. I would suggest you come here without any technology and buy second hand (EMOO) or from a shop such as PriceRight where last seasons models are reduced in price. You will still be shocked at the price as costs are high. Now if you are from US then yes you might want to bring all your technology with you. But another warning - it may not survive the humid air and you will be surprised at what rusts or disintegrates over here. Best wishes
Katie
