ComingtoBermuda

My family and I are likely to be moving to Bermuda in the next few months. We have two young kids (3 and 1) and will be looking for schools and nursery for them. Any advice? The eldest currently attends a Montessori school - any thoughts on the Montessori school in Bermuda?
Also, what would be a good area to live in with young kids? We're looking for somewhere close to parks/beach etc, where the kids can play.
Thanks!

I moved to Bermuda in October 2015. I am in still in shock regarding the cost of living. A cantaloupe is $10.00. the smallest jar of Vicks Vapo Rub is $9.00 (I bought one today). I cup of Chobani yogurt: $3.50. Diapers? Don;t know. But you can triple the cost of North America. One bedroom apartment in normal neighborhood: $1500-$2000. Laundry may or may not be included. Good luck with that.
Your employer better offer a generous salary plus moving expenses and a house or you and your family will starve. Stay home.

We'll be moving there from Grand Cayman, which is also very expensive, so the prices won't be too much of a shock for us. However, it's impossible to know what's a good salary and what's not. Also, are housing allowances common or rare?

When I first moved to Bermuda, I had two infant girls. Some of our happiest memories are from that time. The island is a beautiful place to raise young kids, surrounded by nature and a diverse, cosmopolitan culture. Sure it is more expensive than some places, but in plenty of aspects on par with other major Metroploitan cities. The benefits outweigh the cons by a long shot. Happy to answer more direct questions if it helps.

Somersfield (montessori) has a great reputation and is well attended by local and expat children.
If you are keen on the montessori school then you will want to be on the east side to keep the school run / commute manageable. Nowhere is too far from a beach, but the main east end beaches are shelly bay, and John Smith's. Both have nice child-friendly neighbourhoods nearby. Going further east you have great beaches at Cooper's Island in St Davids, or around St George's. It will be longer commutes but rent is cheaper and, again, decent neighbourhoods can be found there.
