Hey everyone, I am a Canadian moving to Bermuda for work and I'm hoping for some information on what people use for their cell service. What did you do to prepare? International plan, prepaid SIM card?I have an iPhone that i'm going to unlock from Rogers. I'm moving at the end of the month so any info or tips would be much appreciated!

Laurenkent, I will also be moving to the island soon. From my understanding there are two cell phone carriers. Digicel is the main one I believe. You can check out their plans at digicel group.com

Dear Zippy 63 and Everybody:
Yes, there are two cell phone companies. The important thing is to unlock your current phone and throw away the key. Be sure to disconnect service from your originating country 0 at least of that country is the U.s. My service provider was charging me every time I made a phone call even with a Bermuda phone even with the phone unlocked. Have a long, detailed conversation with both your existing and your Bermuda service so you don;t get billed twice. I learned the hard way. Get the terms in writing.
Digicel and Cell One are comparable - go with the best deal. and remember, there is tax on phone calls.

Cellphone plans are quite expensive in Bermuda, especially they charge government tax for USD 10 a month, taking out your airtime balance daily. Bermuda is charging both in coming and out going calls.
Personally, I do not recommend a cellphone plan because the min. one is USD 80 plus.
I just purchase data bundle to my number. I can only use data to call on Skype, Google Hangout, Whatsapp, Facebook Msg. And to receive calls, I get a Skype US number, and if you ever need to make calls, you can buy a Bermuda calling bundle on Skype. This way it is ALOT cheaper!

There are two providers Cellone and Digicel. As other posters have said, the monthly plans are very expensve. I just top up $15 per month to my phone and turned off data roaming. I use wifi and free hotspots around the island if I want to use access an app.
