Dear all, I will be based in hamilton, but plan to travel around the island either by ferry or bus.
I wanted to ask advice on whether or not to bring a nice bike. I was thinking that I could take a ferry to some point and then bike to the beach, and then back to the ferry again.
Is that something that makes sense. I don't plan on buying a car or moped, just want to get around on foot or public transportation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It depends. If you are an advanced rider with a good bike suitable for hilly roads, you should have no problem finding groups that ride every week. There are at least a couple of those in Bermuda. One thing to keep in mind is that the roads are very narrow, and traffic gets busy during the day. Most people that ride do so very early in the morning, typically on the weekends. Riding alone, during normal hours can be a bit dangerous as there is not much room on the roads for bicycles and for other motorists to pass.

Again, I agree with Lyn2016.
Riding a bicycle in Bermuda alone is akin to suicide as the roads are very narrow; about 16 feet to support two lanes of opposing traffic with no shoulder trapped by stone walls. There are no sidewalks. Don't think you are going to commute to your job by bike and live.
There are, however, avid cycling clubs that ride early morning weekends on roads less traveled - the airport, for example. You to make a concerted effort, and have to ride as an athletic feat, and not as a means of transportation.

Don't think you are going to bike to the beach and live, either. Best to take the bus .
