Customs Duty

I will be moving to Bermuda on the 10th August 2017 and need to know about the cost of importing goods.

I will be sending boxes with miscellaneous items of no great value adding up to $2000; do I pay an import duty at the sea port to Customs and if so how much?

Also, when I arrive with my suitcases and personal computer at the airport for a 2 year stay do I pay any duty on my personal belongings?

If they are personal items more than 6-months old, then you get a one-time exemption for moving to the island (I think it's within the first 3 months of moving).

After that is over, you can expect to pay a 35% customs duty on anything you import. So make sure you bring over everything you want at the beginning.
