moving to Bolivia

what would be required for my self and my family to move to bolivia, how difficult is the process, how long will it take, what is required. we wish to permanatly move there buy a propety/house with a bit of land, we hope to grow foods, maybe some livestock, live quitely engage with the local people become part of the society. we have children of school age. we speak a little spanish but, we do learn quickly we are also thinking of opening a business (maybe a B&B) we are anxious to move soon.

Its going to be much harder than you imagine. I think you should come and live in Bolivia for awhile, tour around, make some contacts before you buy anything. Bolivian society is remarkably different to anywhere else in the world and the toleration of foriegners is very low, political instability high. The geographical variety alone will make buying land to settle on a difficult decision. Also just because you bought the land doesn't mean touchy local community will let you keep it. So saying, its a tough but wonderful frontier country to live in, I came for 1 month ten years ago! So don't be put off either, give it a trial run, with zero expectations.
