I have hear this is a nice place to live but before I plan a visit to make that determination myself I have some questions. Can you drink the water? Cost of living? Crime there? I also heard that they drill for natural gas there but does anyone know how it is extracted from the earth and whether it is safe to both mother earth and human beings as in the States it is not done safely. Any info on this beautiful town would be helpful.

I have been living in Tarija for the last 6 months and I love it. My wife is from Bolivia and that helps :)

Thanks for your reply. What do you like about living there and are there many Americans that live there? How do the Bolivians feel about the expats that move there? What things would you tell someone who was thinking about moving to this area both positives and negatives? Thanks so much, Cleo

I've read many times that Tarija has more in common with Argentina than Bolivia. I don't think being an American there is a big issue. The town has experienced large growth from other areas of Bolivia due to gas fields work in the province.
