Do many expats actually live in Bolivia? Almost no recent posts. Wonder if completely untenable for American to move there or some potential? Certainly very inexpensive but barriers to settling there insurmountable? Just curious.

Note that if it weren't so damn confusing, logging out of one account and logging into another at expat exchange, these would all read DeniseLR, not GigiB87, so don't get excited Bolivia. Still only one person interested in site. (Too contentious on Mexico site. Looking for some peace and quiet, )

What gave you the idea to live in Bolivia in the first place? I am traveling to southern Peru and Bolivia next month. The places that appear attractive are Sucre for it's colonial ambiance and Tarija in the south near Argentina and at a lower altitude.

Less expensive, fewer tourists and argumentative Americans. Wonder about safety. Don't like long lines and tourist buses.

Thought it might be peaceful and quiet and relatively tourist free. Unsure about safety. I have been to Uruguay and Argentina, that is it for SA. Want to avoid self important, argumentative US tourists. But that's just me.

There are many ex-pats living in Bolivia but, for some reason they are uncommunicative with others. It could be because of the wide variety of places they come from and they do not identify with each other apart from the facy that they are foreigners too. I find it frustrating that I have not found a forum where there are many of them exchanging information
