Hi, I have fond memories of Botswana (as a child my father worked there) and there is a possiblity my fiance will be relocating to Botswana for work which I'm thrilled about. We'd get married sooner than planned to make the move easier. I'd like to know things like what kind of job opportunities there are for a personal assistant/learning co-ordinator. What is the healthcare like. The cost of living, housing, etc. What kind of public transport is there or could I drive there on my SA drivers license?
Thanks everyone

I hve just joined the forum so not sure if your msg is still applicable as it is quite old now. I have arrived in Gaborone about 2 months ago. There appears to be loads ofjobs, but I'm not sure how easy it is to get work permits. I am working on a US funded pjt so was able to get a permit easily enough. You can drive on your SA drivers licence for 3 months and then you have to swop it for a Botswana license. It depends where you want to live but houses go for around 5000 - 10000 pula per month. Only public transport is the mini bus taxis. Cost ofl iving I think is quite similar to SA except petrol is much cheaper here.
