I'll be leaving for Brasil from Dallas in just about a month. Plan to arrive in Rio, then find a house in Petropolis. If you've never been there, it's gorgeous.

Dealing with the consulate in Houston was a bit of a hassle, but that's all in the past.

Now in the process of finding a way to move my possessions from here to there.

For those who don't know, you can NOT bring a used vehicle into the country unless you are a TOURIST. Having a Permanent Visa, it's simply impossible.

If anyone wants to discuss anything regarding my move, I'd be open to advice.

Regards,
Geoff

I am contacting you from a National television show in the United States called Radical Sabbatical which airs on the Fine Living Network, an adventure oriented sister network of HGTV, Home and Garden Television. You can check out the website at www.fineliving.com. Anyway the show is in it's third season and is about people like you who have left their 9-5 jobs to follow their dreams. We are looking for someone who has just moved to a foreign country and is starting a new life. Can you tell me about why you decided to move, what you used to do, what you plan on doing there, etc. What your turning point was that made you go for it? Or perhaps you know other people who are in similar situations. I look forward to your response.
Thank you,
Best,

Hi,

Just found this site and several years ago had been thinking about retiring overseas. Looked at: Bagio, Phil., San Jose, Costa Rica, and Mexico. I decided to stay here.

Anyway was just in Petropolis two weeks ago as well as Teresopolis and Nova Friburgo. I made a comment while I was there that this would be an excellent place to retire because of the beauty, weather and cost of living. My recollection is that Petropolis as a summer home for the King had quite a well to do area. I assumed it was a summer home site from Rio. I think you made an excellent choice although in a way Nova Friburgo appealed to me a bit more because it was a bit larger.

Wish you well. I guess when I found this site Brazil was on my mind.

Regards

Hi!

I'm also on my way to Petrópolis - not as a retired...and I don't know if you are(?)
Anyway, if you want to talk about anything Petrópolis-related, send an email to anders@vaerge.com. I've lived there for about a year so far, but I'm in China for a few more months now (I'm a Danish native).

Good luck!
