Hi there! Your major concern will probably be (after money) visas. Will you be looking to work in Brazil? Will you have any off-setting income for a multinational that you might be working for? In the case of a visa it seems you might qualify for either a retirement or investment visa, but your kids will add to the cost of getting it because there is a price attached to each in the visa rules. Actually traveling here is the easy part. I would contact the Brazilian consulate or Embassy closest to you and ask this question. The investment visa has a floor of R$150,000 and it can't be used to buy a house for yourself...it has to be a viable business because the business plan has to be registered with the government. Your money won't go too far if you need to use it for both your own accommodation and for a visa. Just my 2 cents. In the northeast of Brazil, where the cost of living is less than the industrial south, you will need around R$5,000 a month for a middle class life. That's with the kids in private schools and so on. Sao Paulo and Rio are 2 of the most expensive cities in south OR North America...even more than NYC! Andy Neill Fortaleza, Brazil
