I am going to be in Guriri which is about 14 km from Sao Mateus. Since these are not the huge tourist areas, I was wondering if using my Visa ATM card would pose any issues. I have heard that in the rural areas finding an ATM machine for foreign cards may be a problem?

Most machines from HSBC, Bradesco and Citibank can accept Debit Banking Cards with the Cirrus logo. I have not had any trouble finding these machines during my travels in Brasil.

Just make sure to inform your bank so they do not block the transactions.
