Transferring to a Brazilian Federal University from the United States.

Good Morning Everyone,

I am a student currently enrolled in Howard University. I am getting ready to leave Howard and transfer to another school for financial reasons. I am looking into the option of transferring to a school in Brazil because of my interest in their economy, weather, demographics and somewhat laid back lifestyle. I have taken Portuguese courses while I attended Howard so I am familiar with the language and am still improving my proficiency. I am pursuing a degree majoring in History (US and Latin America) and minoring in Economics. When I graduate I want to teach History and English at the high school level. I would not mind teaching English to Business Executives as well. I would also like to intern and work while I attend a Brazilian Federal University. The places that I am interested in So far are Salvador, Bahia, Rio De Janeiro, Sao Paulo and maybe Florianopolis.

Out of the places that I have stated above, which one would be the best fit for me? Which one would be the most affordable for me as a foreign exchange college student? Which one of these places has the most internships and jobs available for my fields of study? If you guys don't like any of these places, what other places do you guys suggest?

Does anyone know of the best and cheapest study abroad programs for foreign exchange students that can help me transition into a Federal Brazilian University? If you have any personal suggestions that you want to send, my email address is:

Hi there!
As far as cost of living is concerned, Rio and Sao Paulo are the highest in either North or South America.
Floripa is very livable.
SP is good for job hunting i think because it is more or less the business capital of Brazil, but it's expensive there.
