Looking to meet Expats in Floripa

Hi Guys,

My husband and I are planning on coming to Florianopolis for about 2
weeks, from November 27 to December 7.

We are currently living in Chile for almost a year. We are prospecting to see if we would like to move to Florianopolis to
live and establish our software business.

Anyone possible to meet for a coffee and discuss more about your experience living in Florianopolis.

Kind regards,
Ysabel

Hello Ysabel,

Welcome to Brasil ! Bem-vinda!

Don't miss some nice spots in Florianópolis: Lagoa da Conceição, Praia da Joaquina and so on, further away from the city centre in the Florianópolis island. I would advise renting a car to provide you more mobility around the island, thus the possibility to explore nicer, smaller beaches away from the crowded and touristic ones. It's a bit of paradise on earth!

Regarding the possibility of opening a business here in Brazil, once here (or maybe you can also send an e-mail to them), I would suggest contacting "Sebrae", type "Sebrae Florianópolis" on google and you'll find the page. It's an agency that provides free advisory about opening business in Brazil and studies the viability and market potentials you would have with your business.

You may also need help from a migration consultant to help you go trough the bureaucratic part of the process, which included obtaining the right visa, permanent residency and documents such as CPF of CNPJ (companies) that would allow you to legally open your business here.

If you are a nation from Chile, check the Mercosul agreements concerning special visa facilities and bilateral agreements that will prevent you from spending too much money on official translations and so on.

I'm an International Migration consultant, based in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, and can assist you, in case you would be interested in my services.

Hablo español !

Kind regards,

I'm told every Tuesday is expat night at the Black Swan in Lagoa. Beautiful town in the center of the island. Been here 4 years and love it.

I'm about 2 and a half hours drive from Floripa, in Lages. I'll be coming to Floripa in January hopefully! I was also there just last weekend! I love it there.

Ooops, just realised you will be gone by then!

I've been to Floripa several times and know people who live there and everyone loves it. There are some beautiful beaches. My husband works there in January and February usually and there can be a lot of crime because it's a tourist spot, but you will get that anywhere. Just have your wits about you during the busy tourist season. Thieves apparently come from neighbouring towns tp target tourists, but don't let that put you off. It's a beautiful place!

We want to grow our IT business and Chile doesn't have any IT at all. Brazil looks promising so we try Floripa, not too big like Rio and SP and safer i guess.

We will still visit during summer. ;)
