ATM CARDS ARE FROZEN IN BRAZIL.

American and Canadian ATM CARDS ARE FROZEN IN BRAZIL.
YOU cannot get cash from any ATM.
I emailed Tecban, the umbrella company to which most or all banks here in Brazil are affiliated with and which looks after the Banco24Horas ATMs. I learned that withdrawal transactions using foreign-issued cards have been suspended. The lady who answered me couldn’t tell me if this is permanent or temporary.

Anyone have suggestions, cannot see moving to Brazil if I can now access my retirement funds.

I've been using my Bank of America Visa ATM debit card for three years and have never had a problem. Monday, Jan. 7th at 7 pm local time I made a 500 Reais withdrawal in Barbacena, Minas Gerais,

What may have happened is that the bank spotted what looked like an illegal action and cancelled the card...they normally would attempt to ask about your activity before doing anything but maybe could not reach you. Do they know where you are or have a number to reach you? I had a former client and friend that had his card cancelled but the bank had a number for him and called. Also, he was just about to jet home to London.
this is what might have happened in your case, or some variation.
