I have lived there for half my life, in Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco, where I'm now. If you are coming to the beautiful NE of Brazil, specially Recife and/or Olinda, I can help you settle. If you are coming just for vacation or carnival, early contacts can give you better deals in places and prices. Contact me by email and let me know what you are going to do and what you will need.

Hi! We're considering buying a vacation rental in Olinda. Do you know of any companies there that help with maintaining vacation rentals? Thank you! Kerstin

Are you insane ? You're thinking of buying anything in Brasil, where no one has any money ? Tourism is dead and you want to buy an 'income' property and let Brasilians handle it ? Get ready for the biggest fleecing you can imagine, you will loose everything. I get the impression you've never been to Brasil, that you have NO idea about Brasil or it's people. You'd be better off buying swamp land in S Florida

Dear FloridaGuyinBrasil,
I am quite impressed by your outburst of utter ignorance. I do not know you, I do not know where you have ended up, what you do for a living, the sort of people you have mixed with in Brazil or what bad experiences you may have had but I can say that nothing you have pointed out on your post is applicable to Florianopolis, Santa Catarina. Here buying property is the sure thing with a proven Real Estate appreciation rate of at least 15% and renting is very good business. You should not speak as if Brazil were the same everywhere. If you have lived in Brazil long enough you know that each state, each region is a different story from all the rest. Please, do not speak in general. I have lived in Brazil your 40 years and must say there are more good people than bad individuals in this country. Of course, just like in any other country, you must be careful.
