Legal issue: Adding me to ownership of Mom's house in Brazil

Looking for advice: my American mom with residency in Brazil is working on giving me PoA, and I'm suggesting that she put me on the actual title/ownership of the house and property to avoid any future problems. I am American and live in NY, I do have a CPF and hope to one day establish residency in Brazil. Any advice? If I'm not mistaken, me and my brother by Brazilian law must inherit 50% of the property no matter what, no matter what is said in any will or who else claims anything, where we live, or our residency or citizenship status. (My Mom is more interested in giving me most of the rights/property, in terms of decision making). Also, any leads on lawyers who could assist in this, either in US or Brazil, would be helpful. Obrigada!

The Brazilian Consulate in your region will be able to help you with this issue. Just make an appointment to see them and they will definitely give you good advice. That is what they are paid to do.
Please post their reply here once you have been to see them. Good luck!

Hello! man, that's super easy to solve. However , you need to do the whole legal process with registries and everything else , is not difficult , but I advise you to come to Brazil , if only for a week, just to solve this. Do everything the US is possible yes, but will be much more laborious.

Thank you - although not so easy because my mom is in sul da Bahia and not anywhere near a consulate. I've also been told the reverse, that it would be easier to do in the U.S. We shall see! I'll investigate.
