Has anyone gone for a driver's license? If so, please tell me if they have the standard eye chart test. One eye tested at a time? Need to know if macular degeneration in one eye will cause a failure for license. Thank you.

Hello!
I did my latest driver's license in Florianopolis where I live. I have a scar in the macula due to a small scar left by a hemorrhage in the eye deriving hitting my head repeatedly in a car accident. As soon as I went in for the test I told the doctor that I had this problem. I did the test (each separately) and he told me I have 95% overall eyesight. I got my license, no problem. I think it will depend on the intensity of your problem. I would go to it anyway. Unforunately, things are what they are....... Good luck!

First: If you are not Brazilian and intend to drive here in Brazil, just only you have your driver's license will be valid here for two years provided it is with the date day along with the passport. If you want to get your Brazilian driver's license you must be a permanent resident. This is not easy. There is no problem you have a problem in one eye.

Thank you. How long does it take, generally, to get a permanent cedula in Brazil?

Hello, again

Getting permanent residence papers in Brazil is not easy. It is granted in the following cases: if you are married to a Brazilian national or if you are in a civil partnership with a Brazilian national; if you have a Brazilian dependent child even if both parents are foreign; if you are a priest or similar member of a religious organization. Please read: http://www.dpf.gov.br/servicos/estrangeiro/new-procedures-in-the-process-of-definitive-permanence. If you enter Brazil on a tourist visa, you will be able to stay in the country for a total of 180 days (not six months, 180 days) whether in one stretch or in separate periods of time within the 12 months following the date of entry.

Good luck!
