Hi, my wife and daughter are in Brazil now. My daughter ha US and Brazilian citizenship as my wife is Brazilian. I know I can get residency thru my wife. My question is, if i can get it thru my daughter instead? I read if I do it as a parent of a Brazilian national I wouldn't need to provide criminal history? I saw this on a few pages and things may have changed since then? Not a huge deal it will just delay me a couple months. If anyone knows for sure about this I'd appreciate your input! Thanks!

I would think your daughter needs to be at least 18 or 21, an adult. IF you are IN Brasil now, just go ask the Federal Police visa section, usually at the major airport, they are very helpful and can answer your questions.

The advice given by FloridaGuyinBrasil is correct. Also, you may make an appointment with the Brazilian Consulate in your region and ask them all the necessary questions. Good luck!

I cannot definitively say whether you need it or not. However, if you are referring to US FBI criminal check, you can get it done through www.myfbireport.com. I used them for my work visa. They do it much faster than (though it is s little more expensive) FBI website.
