" Hello-I have been looking into retiring in Europe and have developed an interest in Plovdiv. Are there any English speaking expats in the area who could help answer some of my questions.Bulgaria seems to have a lot to offer, especially to anyone with an interest in history, but the political/economic situation seems to be pretty complex. Thanks Lee "

Hello, I am an Bulgarian expat, who lives now in Brussels. I was living in Plovdiv for about 35 years before re-locating in Brussels. I do not know if I would be able to help you, but please just ask.
Regards!

We lived for three years in Bulgaria (Sofia) but we know very well Plovdiv. If you need an advise you are welcome... A tip...be careful with the medical care if you need specialized treatments, it will be tough to find it...otherwise Bulgaria is LOVELY, and quite a save place to live. AP

Hi everyone. We have just bought a house in a little village near Burgas called Medovo. We hope to move out there in the next 3 weeks. There is some work to do to our property. Does anyone know of any good builders and also where we can purchase DIY products such as paint etc. Also are there any good furniture shops in the area. If anyone lives in this area maybe we could meet up for a meal or a drink. We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi. We have just purchased a property in Medovo, near Burgas which is just about 10 miles inland - 10 mins drive to Sunny Beach, 10,mins drive from the nearest town and half an hour from Burgas airport. It is set in beautiful countryside, and for us is a perfect location. We arranged to go on holiday and booked with a three agents who showed us around the properties. We purchased with easybg.com who are very good, but we were also very impresed with bulgarianproperties.com. Both are good websites and Mihail of bulgarian properties is very helpful and speaks very good english. If you need to ask any more questions in depth please e-mail us on [email protected].

I notice that your posting was in 2001. We, too, are interested in information about retiring in Bulgaria. As we explore the possibilities, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, we have just purchased a place (shop, cafe and appt) in kardjali, we hope to move there in January as part of a year (or 2) out from work, the intention is to go there for about 3/4 months and then travel off into either Asia or South America, and then return to Bulgaria as and when we can. We would love to hear from anyone who is planning similar or who will be around for a chat and a pint either here or there, perhaps start dialogue and share the experiences and ground work. we have only just begun and are so far starting to sort Licenses etc. We intend on driving through Europe at the end of this year and getting to Bulgarie min-late Jan. [email protected] will get to me or a return post here.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Ken and Martin.
