I am thinking of buying a house in bulgaria and possibly moving there when I retire. Is there any English speaking ex-pats that could give me advice on this.

I am in the same boat and would like info about buying in bulgaria. The info on the web seems confusing about the purchase of houses/land. At present I have info coming from several agents. Have you found anything more recent about the number of expats there or about security and safety?

hello,
HAVE not been in contact with any ex-pats.Bulgaria is requesting full european integration by 2007 so I think security looks promising. The purchase of property looks straight foward, but in order to buy the land, you have to register as a company, which also appears to be a formality. please keep in touch with your experiences would also like to hear what kind of offers the agencies make to you,Ihave not yet decided on which part of bulgaria. Please feel free to E-mail me.

I would gladly recommend Norman Partners http://norman.webbg.com, they have been servicing ex-pat real estate needs for quite a while now. Use their phone numbers.
Also, look at the www. sofiaecho.com, by far the only ex-pat English newspaper in Sofia, went online not too long ago.
Any questions, feel free to write to me.
Alex

Hi Rob

My husband (who is Bulgarian) and I are returning to Bulgaria to Sunny Beach and the end of March, we will be running a restaurant there during the summer, we are thinking of settling back in Bulgaria and so will also be looking around at houses. I was curious how you were getting along with your house purchase and if you have anything at all my husband can help with don't hesitate to ask.

Regards

Emma

Hi, Rob,
Tom Towle here in Mineola, Texas. I, too, am wanting to buy a house in Bulgaria. Have you gathered any more info that I might consider in my own deliberations. I am anxious to take a trip there and explore the possibilities.
Thanks, Tom

Hi Emma - Hope you don't mind me writing to you but saw your offer to help Rob and wondered if you could give me some advice too. My partner and I are hoping to move to Bulgaria, somewhere in the Black Sea Coast area, and are having diffiuclty in finding Estate Agents with suitable properties. Can you advise me of any local agents - many of the properties on the net seem to be around Sofia. Also we would like to visit for about four weeks to have a proper look round. We are hoping to go self catering but again finding suitable accommodation is a problem. Many of the rentals are for properties far too large and we don't want to do a 'package' with a tour operator. Another problem is getting flights from the UK to Varna after October - there simply aren't any. We wondered about flying out to Sofia and travelling - probably by hire car over to Varna area - is this a good idea. What are the roads like, is there any danger and have you any idea how long it would take. Hope you can help on some of these questions - I know there are a lot. Many thanks in anticipation and very good luck with your restaurant. - Eunice

Hi,

Tried to email Mark & Carol direct but it was rejected (just upgraded to ADSL and PC's gone mad) Any info anyone can send me regarding buying in Bulgaria would be very welcome. I have been lurking round various sites and crawling round the internet. If anyone can point me in the direction of HONEST English speaking agents and solicitors I would be grateful. I am living in Spain at the moment, but Bulgaria looks very promising. Firstly I am looking for investment projects with a view to moving out there permanently if it works out.
Anyone can email me on louisaspain@hotmail.com look forward to hearing from you and good luck everyone on buying over there.
Louisa

Hi Emma

I am coming over to Bulgaria in October, will you still be over there? I am looking for property on the Black Sea coast, but I am wanting to avoid English agents and go straight to Bulgarian estate agents, as I am looking for investments. I would also like to buy villas direct from actual bulgarian builders or purchase land, have it checked out and have builders give me a (Bulgarian) price. If your husband was able to help me, I would gladly pay for his time.

You can email me direct on louisaspain@hotmail.com
Thanks

Louisa
