Eco off grid living close to varna

Hello all!
I have just paid for my land and derelict house in the countryside close to varna.
Has anyone done this ? Anyone live close ? Any advice ?? We are both in our mid 30's and I have a 17 year old who may stay in England.
We are building a cob house and plan on living pretty much off grid.

Would love to chat with anyone who is close to varna or who has moved to Bulgaria for a slower way of life.

I’ve also just bought a run down, but lovely house and land near Varna. Well near Dropla which is 30 or 40 minutes away. I work as an IT contractor and have lived off grid in the past in the UK.

Hi Shinobidef, I'm presently in Veliko Tarnovo and leave next Wednesday 29th June, taking a bus to Varna. I'd be interested in meeting up with you as I too have ambition to work towards self a sufficiency. It would be good to discuss possibilities- drop me a line! Nick

Hi Nick,

I'm actually in the UK - I was in Varna a few years back. Sorry if Varna is showing as my location under my Account - I can't seem to see how I can update it and also add my new email.

I've PM'd Jesska as although I really want to live off grid if possible and build with cob, I'm having a lot of difficulty in finding out about what's realistic, no joy in locating any natural building architects, and no responses from any of the Municipalities I've contacted!

I'm trying to do as much ground work as possible before actually buying any land in case I find out more than 80% of what I want to do is impossible. I don't have the money for a renovating any Bulgarian "ruins" so a natural building is realistically the only way I can see myself being able to settle there (assuming Brexit doesn't go ahead!)

My email address is shinobidef@outlook.com if you want to msg me direct.

Could you please explain what does it mean?

"to live off grid if possible and build with cob"

Off grid means you're not connected to mains utilities. To be 100% off grid means that you'd generate your own power (hydro, wind or solar, for example), and you'd conserve your own water (either from a water source or by catching rain water and surface run off) and instead of using mains sewage, you'd reuse your water.

Cob is a natural material that's made from a mixture of sand, clay and straw that you can use to build houses, ovens, rocket mass heaters, etc.

Hi,
We live in a village just outside of Novi Pazar. I am from the US, and my wife is Bulgarian. We will be living here full time from Sept. 1. I also am planning on off grid.

Hi Everyone,

My wife and I have just bought our house in a village just outside of Novi Pazar. I am from the US, and my wife is Bulgarian (which made things a lot easier!). We are currently living in Prague, but will be moving to Bulgaria full time from September 1st. I have opened a company here (for work), and also have contacts in the hemp industry for "hempcrete" if anyone is interested. I can also help out with any construction anyone might need in Varna or Shumen regions. I am a mechanical engineer, and my wifes family is in construction, so I can offer US/UK quality work at BG prices. It would be great to get to know some of you who are, or will be here.

Hi, did you move back to Bulgaria already? How did the move go? Are you still in the area that you mentioned? Would be very interested in having contacts and possible construction connections and Bulgaria.

Hi there
we're here full-time and like you renovating - halfway through. We'd be really interesting in your son's solar experience and why he's not going for it here? Cost I'm presuming? Cheers

Hello!
I found a piece of land just 23 km from Varna. I am looking for people who want to live off-grid and start eco-settlement on this land.
