Hi to both. Is it imperative that your animals fly? Ken Taggerty on Facebook has been transporting pets from UK to BG for some time and has very good recommendations. We are also about to transport our 2 Staffies with us in our Transit.

There are many restrictions to flying with dogs. Our friends flew their dog to Italy. The only airline in London authorised for this was BA from Heathrow. A proper box had to be made and it cost £400. That was in the last five or six years.
I am driving three dogs out in a couple of weeks time, stopping overnight two or three times.
I will upload the story when I get to BG.

Austrian Airlines will fly dogs from Heathrow. We've flown our Boxer a few times via Vienna. Many airlines accept dogs so I'd recommend getting the phone number for their cargo department. I know Turkish airlines and Aeroflot take pets too and both fly to Bulgaria from Heathrow.
Your pet plus box will be charged as excess baggage. 8kg and under will fly in the cabin, but must remain in the travel box. When you check in we've only been asked if we have our pet passport documents but nobody has bothered to look at them. Once checked in, you go to the excess baggage desk to pay. Then take the receipt back to check in and they will tag the travel box. You then take it to the oversize baggage drop off and you're done. You will need an IATA approved travel box, we paid about £100 for ours.
As we flew via Vienna we confirmed with the flight attendant on the connecting flight that we had a dog. They then inform the pilot and he/she will ensure your pet is safely aboard before departure.
On arrival we went for the red gate and said we had a dog. We've been waved through both times with no document checks. You may need to ask at baggage reclaim as both times our dog was kept air-side until we asked.
