Hi All,
We are thinking of buying a property in Bugaria we have found one we like in Stefan Stambolovo. Any advice from anyone would be appreciated. Any one know that area? Any feedback on the way of life there would also help.
Thanks
Mel and David

Hi
my partner and I have been in Bulgaria about 6 weeks now and are a 45 minute drive from the area you are buying in. Stefan Stambolovo is rural and like most villages is a mixture of lived in and derelict houses. Don't let this put you off because it is quite normal. Many Bulgarians run to the city and return for the summer. We are loving it here. We have a renovation project and are working hard to bring it up to speed but realistically it will be next year before it is fully liveable. We have a big old plot of overgrown land that we are hacking back too. It has been unseasonably hot, so much so that we have bought air conditioning. Hilarious on the outside of what the villagers consider a wreck! As fellow newbies there is so much I'd like to pass on. Our Bulgarian neighbours are wonderful. They don't care that we don't understand the language - they speak at us and I'm picking it up. The food is also wonderful - only in season food in our village. The big question for meat eaters is the bacon issue - yes you can get it here :) I have to say it even though I don't like to - there will be people wh will know you are "Anglichani" and will try and over charge you. Especialy for building materials. Ask form others here for a general idea of price. The Facebook group The Pavlikeni Post has so much information and the town of Pavlikeni is close enough to you. It even boasts an outside swimming pool. There is also a hardware shop with a lovely English speaking lad and they can supply building materials too until you find your feet. I know there are 4 sets of English in the village of Obedinenie which is quite close to you. If you would like any other information feel free to private message me. Good luck on your adventure!
