New arrivals in Eastern Rhodopes

A warm hello to you all,

We just wanted to introduce ourselves as Greg and Laura (UK and Italy) who have just landed in Gorno Pole, just south of Haskovo near to Madzharovo in the beautiful Eastern Rhodope mountains.

We were lucky to spend some time in this area at the start of the year and now we are back on the ground to secure some land and set down some roots.

We would love to hear from anyone relatively nearby (we understand this area is a little off the expat trail) and connect with you for advice and support both ways :)

We're at the stage of seeing land and dancing the delicate sales dance with local owners at present and in the next days we hope to make some real progress. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

We are also viewing a property on thurs in haskovo. We flying out today as got others in vt to look at prior. Do you fancy meeting thurs for a drink ??

We visited the vulture reserve at Madzharovo. Its certainly rural down that way! Most of the villages looked abandoned more or less and Madzharovo is known as the smallest dying town in Bulgaria, due to the uranium mining collapsing and many locals dying from radiation poisoning! Haskovo is a nice town.
