We need a house demolished and some building work done. We live just outside Asenovgrad, 30k from Plovdiv. Anyone know any competent honest builders in the area?

I don't live live in the Plovdiv area but after several building adventures here I have come to the conclusion that anyone with a hammer will call himself a carpenter or builder.
We purchased a home built by an Englishman but the local workers used the very cheapest of materials and we have spent a fair amount of money on repairs and upgrades.
A word of caution...I have seen houses where the owners gave directions to the builder and then returned to the UK while construction occurred. You have to be there every day and watch every thing they do. You can not do it in absentia.
Good luck.

Hi
Just saw your post :-)
I have managed several re-builds in the Kardzhali area which is not far from Assenvograd and if you need someone to project manage for you I am your man :-)
I have a variety of construction contacts in the surrounding area and would be able to assist with both the demolition and probably the new build.
Please drop us a line here if I can help :-)
Cheers Handyman Dave

We came over and bought a property that needed renovating. Left it in the hands of a 'professional'. Work looked good whenever we popped over. After shelling out loads of cash, paid another instalment of £5k, no work done and builder walked away. House is now showing bad workmanship - tiles slipping off roof, kitchen floor tiles lifting and cracking. You do need to extremely careful and need to be onsite to see what's going on! We learnt an expensive but valuable lesson!
