Hello all, I've just been informed by two insurance companies that they will NOT insure a foreign plated vehicle.
You have six months to put in an application to register your car here to receive your Bulgarian number plates. This also involves an MOT type test, after which your plates will be issued.

I went to an English speaking insurer in Ruse, who arranged all documentation and a local to do the necessaries in the KAT office.
All inclusive total was 700 leva.

200 ecotax
300 insurance (third party)
Plus the registration fees, test fees and admin etc..

Now I'm sure I'd read somewhere that none of this was correct,
So either the rules have changed or I had my facts wrong. Being as I've only been here six months, this was very timely info, .
