Hi
We are a young couple looking towards our next adventure, moving to a different country to create a new life. At the top of our list is Bulgaria, we are planning to visit next year to see different areas and maybe even properties.
What were struggling with, is identifying areas of Bulgaria to focus on.
I'll outline what were looking for.... Ideally to live in a mountainous region, our dream is to set up a camp site with cabins eventually, so a valley location is preferred for a longer season. We would like to be close to ski areas, mountain bike areas and places to walk and hike.
We hope to live as self sufficient as possible but to also find paid work when possible, I'm a electrician and very handy with most construction.
Where would you recommend to start looking for suitable property?
What are people's opinions on making a living in Bulgaria as a young couple with bag fulls of determination but no retirement fund to live off ???

Go for it! You have exactly the attitude to make it here. Research and network before you make your decisions. As well as the forum there are excellent Facebook community pages where you can really begin to start making connections and finding out what people are doing. The electrics here are "racily continental". There will be a call for a good electrician among ex pats and, once they trust you, the Bulgarians. RightMove Bulgaria http://www.rightmove.co.uk/overseas-property/in-Bulgaria.html has all agents in Bulgaria so you can compare and contact agents in local areas. Check for the fees agents charge - they are often in Euros. A good Facebook page is Living in Bulgaria https://www.facebook.com/LivingInBulgaria/?fref=ts or BgBay (I kid you bt) https://www.facebook.com/groups/BgBay/ and here is a local on The Pavlikeni Post it is not in the areas you are looking for but it is a great birdseye view to living here. You will find links to other local pages in other areas of the country. https://www.facebook.com/groups/254133881327908/ Look for a well in your proposed property, especially if you want to open a camping. Finally here's a blog about a young couple who are doing what you want to do. They've been here 18 months I think http://movetobulgaria.blogspot.bg
