" Hi. I may have to move to Montreal fast and would love to hear where I will want to live. I don''t speak French but I have always done well with languages, so I''m not too concerned. I just want to make sure I do this move once. I''m going to be there for about 2 years, and only want to sign one lease if I can help it. Thanks! "

Hi I am from California and have been living in the Montreal area 2 1/2 years. Do you know what area you will be working? There are several great areas around the Montreal area. Where are you coming from?

" Hi Leslie, depends completely on whether or not you have kids. The most exciting neighborhood is callled Mile End. Very central, very hip, lots of restos. If you have kids, better idea to live in Westmount if yu can afford it. If you want to communicate, e mail back. i am us citizen living here many years, working in media "

" We too are about to relocate to Montreal (from the UK). We visited last week - what a fantastic place. We have opted for West Island as it suits our family, but (I am by no means an expert) if I were single or without children Iwould choose to live nearer down town areas Westmount or Notre Dame de Grace seem beautiful, lots of cafes and shops etc. I too would love to hear from anyone living in Montreal, especially regarding elementary schooling. " I''ve actually been told that this has been put on hold for a couple of weeks, but I''ll let you know what happens. Thanks for the help! (I would be coming from outside New York City.) "

" I live in Montreal and good luck to you if you plan to live in mile end, plateau, or outremont. although they are the trendiest and most desireable places to live as a hip new comer(and you don''t have to single or childless)vacancy rates are 0% - unusually low for montreal!..I would strongly suggest NDG for cheaper rents and more choice or Westmount if you can afford it. Montreal is a relatively small city with excelelnt public transportation. I live in NDG but spend most of my time in the plateau. "

" The part that is called ""west island"" is the english part of Montreal. You should be able to adapt well in that area. There is many little community that form that area some names are: Pierrefonds, Dorval, Beaconsfield, Kirkland, Baie d''Urfe. The one you will choose depends on your budget and style of life. Good Luck "
