Hi, I am not ZA, but my husband is from Namibia and all his family is from ZA, Cape area. Well, we live in Salmon Arm, where we have a large South African community, they are mostly doctors, if not all. It is not a beautiful area, is quite gorgeous to be honest.. their kids cope quite well, there is lots to do for kids, Hockey, Ringette, swimming, skiing is close by.and it is not as cold as Calgary or Toronto, we got a big lake named Shuswap and it is very nice for swimming and boating. It is a great safe place, where you can live your car with the key on, nothing happens. Expensive, well Canada is expensive to begin with, taxes are high. We are on our way out of here, my husband and I work in aviation, I am from Chile, so if I never saw snow again, it will not hurt me, we are moving to Panama. But back to Canada, Salmon Arm is a great place to raise a family, small and cozy, you are friends with everybody, the doctors, the butchers, the salesmen...I really had a great time and I hope you do if you bring your family.
If you have more questions, my husband wlll be back from work next week, maybe he can answer some for you. Take care, Marcela
