Help needed with moving costs

Hi all, planning on moving with my husband early next year from the UK. I'm wondering if it's more cost effective to take furniture and the like with us and ship it or purchase when out there?

Thanks in advance
Gail and Keith.

all depends on the quality of your furniture. Check used prices on cragislist or kiiji and decide, which stuff you wan to keep. Off sales on new beds are cheap here. Name brands.

My advice would be to move nothing that doesn't fit in a cardboard box. So pots and pans, yes, if they are worth keeping but furniture, no.

Also bear in mind that it is space and weight that matter. Space is a reason to leave furniture behind. Weight is a reason to leave books behind if you are a book person like I am. It hurts to part from that collection of books you spend years gathering but it's the wise thing to do. The same might be true of any other kind of collecting someone has done.

Of course, all DIY power tools and household applicances, etc. get left behind because Canada is on 120 volt vs. the UK's 240 volt.
